SYNC My Ride: How to Pair Smartphone with Ford SYNC Connect

To take full advantage of SYNC features as you cruise through Tawas City or navigate Iosco County, simply follow these instructions:

  • Start by turning on your vehicle and radio. You'll also need your smartphone on as well.
  • Go on your phone and check that the Bluetooth feature is on, and make sure your phone is discoverable.
  • Next, turn to your vehicle's SYNC touchscreen and press 'Add Device'.
  • If you've already paired a phone, SYNC should still display its name. If not, scan for devices on your phone until SYNC is found.
  • SYNC should come up as an option on your smartphone. Press it and a six-digit PIN will be displayed. Check that the PIN displayed on your phone matches the PIN displayed by SYNC-this ensures you're connecting to the right vehicle.
  • Your SYNC display should tell you the pairing was successful. Finally, you can enable 911 Assist or turn off Auto-Download Contacts.
  • Press the 'Finish' button to end the task. You've now connected your smartphone to your SYNC system.
